Rebecca K. Schisler-Adams Selected as 2024 Pro Bono Award Honoree
June 25, 2024
Council Baradel is proud to announce that Rebecca K. Schisler-Adams was selected as the 2024 honoree of the Anne Arundel Bar Association President’s Pro Bono Award.
The award recognizes an outstanding Anne Arundel County attorney who has contributed significantly to the community by providing pro bono services.
Rebecca was nominated for her work as the St. Mary’s High School Mock Trial Team coach. Throughout the school year, Rebeca worked to instill in these students an interest in and an understanding of the adversarial process. The team members exhibited pride and enthusiasm for their experience, led by Rebecca’s inspired leadership.
Rebecca was a member of her own high school’s mock trial team at Saints Peter and Paul High School in Easton, Maryland, as well as her college’s team at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and credits these programs as first inspiring her to become a lawyer. Rebeca believes in the importance of cultivating the next generation of attorneys.
The Maryland high school mock trial program is run in partnership with the Maryland State Bar Association. For more than 40 years, teams across the state have competed as litigators and witnesses in a case drafted and judged by local attorneys. The program's objectives are to “(1) Further understanding of the law, court procedures, and the legal system; (2) Increase proficiency in soft skills such as listening, speaking, reading and reasoning; and (3) Heighten appreciation for academic studies as well as career consciousness of law-related professions.” Learn more at https://www.mylaw.org/mock-trial.
